The Dovingsby Death

(1975)
A novel by

Inspector Harold Ambrose Meynell - known as "Black Harry", was perhaps the most meticulous of all police officers and supervised his tiny country police station with a rod of iron. When the first murder in years was committed, his methods were put to a severe test, because the might of the CID arrived and Meynell was told to return to his normal duties while they took over. However, Harold referred him to Standing Orders which stated that he, Harold, should take part in the investigation - and he was determined to catch the killer.
