Flint's Truth

(1998)
(The second book in the Sam Flint series)
A novel by

When frontier editor Sam Flint sets up shop in Oro Blanco, New Mexico Territory, he discovers that mining bosses rule the town, and intend to keep his new weekly, The Oro Blanco Nugget, just as toothless as they can. Flint can see the corruption and injustice pervading the little town, but getting the true story proves to be a dangerous task. And the town's bosses don't like an editor around asking too many questions. So they try to shut him down, drive him out. But Sam Flint doesn't bend, and his weekly keeps right on digging into the evils that stain Oro Blanco.

This is one of Richard S. Wheeler's three-book series about frontier editor Sam Flint. The others are Flint's Honor and Flint's Gift.

"This is a superb series... from a towering figure in Western fiction." - The Rocky Mountain News

"Wheeler blends an understanding of boomtown culture with a knowledge of journalism on the frontier to produce a fine historical novel." - Amarillo Globe-News

"[Some] of Wheeler's most successful characters... are people you wouldn't mind inviting home for dinner. His villains, of course, are folks you would invite to be guests of honor at a lynching.... Wheeler injects a smidgen of charity into his villains to emphasize their evil." - Roundup Magazine
