Death on an Allotment

(2026)
(The seventh book in the David Adair series)
A novel by

During their Whitsun holiday, two Fakenham schoolboys cycle down to some allotments, hoping to smoke a cigarette away from disapproving eyes.

Instead, in an allotment shed, they find the body of an elderly man whom they both know well. His throat has been slashed, and he is clutching an open razor in one hand and an empty mug in the other.

Evidently a case of suicide. But the young uniformed constable who attends the scene isn’t completely convinced, and persuades his Sergeant to call in the CID.

Detective Inspector Malan is assigned from King’s Lynn, and is equally undecided. Then, the dead man’s home-made will is found – together with another remarkable document. It is still an open question as to whether the death is suicide or murder, but with the help of Constable Moyes, DI Malan eventually proves which is correct.
