Andy is a small-town handyman with questionable skills. His brother-in-law thinks he's an idiot, and even his wife begins to question his abilities. After several bumbling efforts to prove his skills, he quickly becomes the laughing stock of the town.
One day, he stumbles upon a damaged alien spacecraft. When the aliens discover that he is the (self-proclaimed) Best Handyman in the World, they enlist his help.
