As the original generation of transports to Catalyst pass, their descendants have to face an unexpected threat to their growing colony when aliens arrive to claim the planet. When efforts to make peaceful contact with the aliens are met with violence, a war of attrition erupts, and the human colonists find themselves fighting to survive against an enemy with advanced technology.
