The Wild Card

When a prominent politician's beautiful young wife is kidnapped from her London home, and there is no immediate demand for a ransom in money, the most likely motive seems to be left-wing activists forcing a Labour moderate to resign his parliamentary seat in favour of an extreme Marxist candidate. But as the police enquiry gathers momentum, a detective stumbles on a sinister alien element that throws lives in jeopardy and makes home-grown subversion appear relatively tame.
