So now Lange is living with the Makkai, nominally a hostage against Samantha Angelsword, and Becca is trying to manage the difficulties of a tribe in transition and simultaneously keep Lange hidden from the world of people who are going to be interested to know where he is, now that he isn’t dead anymore.
Life was easier, back when Becca wasn’t anyone particularly special, but now she’s the queen of a tribe of Makkai, and every decision is up to her. She’s got to keep everybody together, plus soul in body, for long enough to figure out what’s supposed to happen next.
But at least Lange isn’t dead.
