Deadlier than the Mail
(2026)(The seventh book in the Rose Bennett Mystery series)
A novel by Mariah Kingdom
A romantic fraudster, an office bully and a cold-blooded poisoning? Rose Bennett is almost at her wits’ end…
Lee Martindale is handsome, skilled, philanthropic, and looking for love. Lonely divorcee Adele Chambers didn’t think she’d ever find love again. It looks like a match made in heaven – until a well-meaning colleague at the East & Northern Bank suggests that the lovestruck Adele might have fallen for a conman.
Rose Bennett doesn’t know too much about romance fraud and she’s reluctant to burst the vulnerable Adele’s bubble. But she can’t bear injustice either, and when the ENB’s Head of Risk asks her to find evidence that Lee Martindale is on the level she is only too happy to oblige.
Investigating Stuart Sampson's death in a tragic road traffic accident, DI George Mulligan finds himself unexpectedly looking at a murder; with evidence clearly pointing in the direction of the victim's colleagues at the bank.
And as Rose works to flush out the true identity of Adele’s new love interest, and Mulligan searches among her colleagues in the hunt for Stuart Sampson’s killer, the two investigations collide to reveal a tangled web of jealousy and lies – and more than one motive for murder.
