War erupts, and Rothe finds himself on a mission of assassination that might deliver both the Red Ridges and the Waste from destruction at the hands—and claws—of dwarven foes.
This is a tandem story with The Mine Lord (recommended for reading at or after the chapter titled: Jackal of the Waste) and follows the journey of Rothe Stonefoot until right before he meets Chargrim of Glint.
