Dmitri Lincoln Mehlhorn
Dmitri Mehlhorn is the author of Archipelago of Light, the first novel in the Atoll Trilogy. For three decades, he has worked as a strategist in politics and business—as an executive, entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and political donor.
In 2017, he co-founded Investing in US, which Vanity Fair called “the venture capital arm of the resistance.” Through Investing in US, he helped fund innovations in candidate recruitment, voter mobilization, and democratic organizing. In 2022, Puck called Investing in US "the Left's MVP" in Silicon Valley political philanthropy.

After the 2024 election marked the transition away from the Second American Republic, Mehlhorn stepped away from electoral politics and co-founded the Atoll Society to explore the longer arc of authoritarian and anti-authoritarian politics.
The Atoll Society uses simulations and fiction to stress-test the century ahead, asking how technology and institutions shape shared belief, and how open societies survive when their foundational assumptions no longer hold.
