In a quiet Norwich suburb, Detective Greg Geldard walks into the worst scene of his career.

Please note this book was previously published as
Dig Two Graves.

Salon owner Madame Trieste has been nailed to her kitchen cupboard. A grotesque crucifixion. Her eyes are gone.

This is revenge. A warning.

Even worse, there’s no sign of DI Sarah Laurence, the first officer on the scene. Her car keys sit on the kitchen table. And a spatter of blood on the wall doesn’t match the body in the room.

As Geldard races to find Sarah before the killer finishes what he started, he’s forced to confront the unthinkable: someone on his own team knows exactly who’s taken Sarah. And they’re making sure the killer stays one step ahead.

Sarah’s chances are slipping away by the hour. To save her, Geldard will have to play this deadly game of revenge by his own rules.

This gripping detective mystery full of twists and turns is perfect for fans of Ann Cleeves, Elly Griffiths, Peter May, Matt Brolly and Joy Ellis.

Winner of the Firebird Book Award.

THE DETECTIVE
DI Greg Geldard is an outsider in more ways than one. When his latest case takes him to Norfolk, he’s finally found a place he can call home. Although impatient with paperwork and dismissive of inter-agency politics, he’s a natural leader, hardworking, insightful and above all, willing to listen. Still reeling from a painful divorce, he has begun a tentative romance with DS Chris Matthews. But a relationship with a fellow police officer is fraught with difficulties.

THE SETTING
Norfolk, as Geldard often observes, seems to have more water than land. Bordered by vast, empty beaches, it is home to the unique environment of the Broads; a network of navigable rivers and man-made lakes which date from medieval times. This wetland landscape is known for its open skies, vast waterways, and diverse wildlife. Norfolk also has some of the richest farming land in the UK, growing everything from cereals to asparagus. But this idyllic environment, as Geldard knows to his cost, can hide dark secrets.
