The Funeral of Tanner Moody

This book utilizes an interesting concept. An anthology, its chapters are written by several of the top western writers of today. 'Straw Boss' by Elmer Kelton and 'Liars Three' by John Jakes are especially good reading. The various authors write about different aspects of the life of Tanner Moody, newly deceased, and put it all together in what results in a fabulous eulogy. Like all interesting fictional characters, Tanner Moody is complex, the kind of fellow we'd all like to claim on our family tree.
