There's a fresh young face at Kendal nick, bearing a striking resemblance to DI Andy Hall. Featuring the usual powerful cast of characters, including new arrival DC Ben Crowley, DC Abla Khan and forensics supremo Sandy Smith, this stand-alone novella in the hit Lakeland Murders series combines J J Salkeld's enduring interest in current social and policing issues, but told with an emphasis on humour and a strong, ensemble cast of coppers. There's some fruity language, plenty of banter, a smattering of Lake District dialect, copious quantities of tea, but no extreme violence.
