Janet Raye Stevens

Janet Raye Stevens grew up surrounded by, buried under, and tripping over books. Her mother defined the term voracious reader and Janet eagerly followed in her footsteps, haunting every bookstore, bookmobile and public library within a 50-mile radius.

At the age of 10, Janet decided she wanted to do what the authors of the books she loved did – write. Her first story was for a class assignment, “The Day My Teacher Wore a Miniskirt to School.” She got a C-minus. She also got a lot of laughs, and that was all the encouragement she needed to keep writing.

Fast-forward a few years and Janet now writes both contemporary and historical mysteries, time travel, and the occasional Christmas romance with humor, heart, and a dash of suspense. A Derringer and Silver Falchion awards finalist, her work has been recognized multiple times, including winning the Daphne du Maurier award for the WWII-set paranormal suspense, A Moment After Dark, and RWA’s Golden Heart® award for the sweet and sassy holiday romance, Cole for Christmas.

Janet lives in New England with her family.
