He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

In the beginning, Mike just wanted to be a ship's pilot and fly star-ships. But then he was captured by the alien Chxor and sentenced to be worked to death on a prison station where life is measured in hours. But Mike isn't willing to go quietly into the night. He forges alliances, assembling a rag-tag group of desperate renegades who have lost everything.

They're going to escape, they're going to get back to civilization, and they're going to make the Chxor pay along the way. The only problem is, everyone has their secrets, and for some of Mike's crew, those secrets are so terrible that they'll kill anyone to keep them that way.

Mike will need every bit of smarts, every scrap of stubbornness, and a whole lot of luck to navigate homicidal aliens, trigger-happy mercenaries, and a psychic who can burn people alive with her mind if she gets in a snit. Through it all, they're going to do what they do best: blow things up and take down as many of the enemy as possible.

Renegades: Origins tells the stories of where the Renegades come from, of how they became the monsters they are... and maybe, gives them the chance to step back from the Abyss. Origins contains the five novellas and six short stories that weave together to form the story of how the Renegades came together. Because the family that slays together, stays together.

Renegades: Origins contains the novellas Deserter's Redemption, The Gentle One, Declaration, Ghost Story, and A Murder of Crowes. It also contains six short stories: Research Notes, Runner, Fool's Gold, System Failure, Dishonored, and Crossed Stars.
