The war is over, and yet war never ends. Captain Rand and his squad are directed to assist the Texas Rangers in removing the Cartels from Southern Texas. At the same time Colonel Bradley, the commander of the surviving Delta Squad is sent to Austin to capture or terminate Juan Valdez, the leader of the cartels. What they discover in Valdez's house surprises the Colonel. It changes everything when the surprise turns out to be two nuclear weapons the cartels purchased from Turkey. Turkey built the weapons with technology they purchased from China.

Colonel Bradley was surprised when the Texas Rangers demanded the piles of one hundred bills Delta discovered be turned over to the Republic of Texas. Bradley had never heard of the Republic of Texas. Rand arrived to support Bradley and ensure the money was delivered to the federal treasury.

The Deltas and Rangers fought over the money, Rand arrived to swing the battle into Delta’s favor. The rangers left to take their revenge on Rand and the Delta Operators. Once the cash was transferred to the treasury, Rand continued on his mission to find a safe route the President could take to the mines under Kansas City. Every small town he passed through is the same, they were full of hungry people who feared strangers. The stink of death hung over the towns like a death shroud. People either rushed to meet his convoy asking for help or questioned when the government was sending help. In other towns, the survivors hid from his convoy and the worst were the towns that built roadblocks to stop outsiders from entering their towns.
The destruction Rand saw turned his stomach, one that has seen war across the world, The destruction of his country is one he never thought he'd see in America. His worst nightmare was the warlords that used force and violence to control their towns.

Some sections of the freeways were missing, the bombs had dug huge black scares on the land. Radiation from ground bursts still lingered. The burnt and scared landscape reminded him of the stories he'd been told when he was a kid in Church, he was leading their convoy through Hell. He wondered if he had enough bullets, fuel, food, and water to complete his mission.

He wondered if his country could be saved after experiencing so much destruction and pain. He daydreamed remembering how green the land was in late summer and how blue the skies were, now everything was different shades of grey.
