The Maine Massacre

The Maine Massacre - This novel is set on the Maine coast in America. The aging Commissaris has come to this country to help settle his sister's affairs following the death of her husband. On the pretext of taking up a visiting fellowingship to study American police methods, the dashing de Gier has followed close behind to see that the frail old man is taken care of. He finds an alien landscape and a society where guns and violence are accepted as a part of everyday life. He also finds a series of deaths that seemed to be linked in a most suspicious manner, a local population obviously protecting one another, a staunch and subtle ally in the local police chief and a beautiful woman who could be the prime suspect.
