Betrothed in infancy, Catherine Sackville, now sixteen, journeys to Norfolk to meet her husband-to-be for the first time. Thomas, Viscount Bindon, cold and aloof, seems no more eager for the match than she, and Catherine longs to return home. When Henry of Surrey, Thomas's brother, is charged with treason, Thomas too is implicated and arrested. Catherine must return to her family - as she had wished - but only then, at the moment of farewell, does she recognize her true feelings.
