What a combination. David Drake's 'Vettius' character only whetted my appetite for this sort of historical setting. It's also easy to see the Karl Edward Wagner's 'Kane' character influence. More sinister than either Birds of Prey or Ranks of Bronze. The loss of Karl Edward Wagner is even more tragic for precluding any more collaborations such as this. 'May Lord Thro'ellet spread his wings to guard you, Karl Edward Wagner.'
