In the year 964, a Viking expedition set out from Norway for Greenland but was blown off course during a violent storm. Landing on a distant, foreboding shore in the far north, and believing that they had found Asgard, the home of the gods, they disembarked to look for food and water. During their search, they entered a deep cave system, and what they found there would become legend. The Curse of Odin.
In present-day Svalbard, far above the Arctic Circle, a Russian scientist turns up out of nowhere in the small Norwegian settlement of Longyearbyen during a deadly blizzard. Having seemingly walked alone across the icy terrain from a mysterious Russian research station, she sneaks aboard an icebreaker docked in the town’s harbour. Hours later, after setting off out to sea, all of the ship’s crewmembers are dead, having killed each other in a violent and bloody frenzy.
A team from 22 SAS already taking part in a NATO exercise in the North Atlantic is dispatched, but soon, they too are dead. Former active SAS member Andrew Sterling, now working in London for a special WMD investigative unit, is sent to Svalbard to investigate. What he finds has the potential to become an imminent threat to the world. In a desperate fight against the elements and a mysterious pathogen, Andrew, assisted by a local scientist as well as his partner Fiona Keane, must solve the mystery before the ancient killer finds its way from its icy tomb out into the world.
