Lish McBride grew up in the Pacific Northwest. It rains a lot there, but she likes it anyway. She spent three years away while she got her MFA in fiction from the University of New Orleans, where she managed to survive the hurricane. She enjoys reading, having geek-laden conversations about movies, comics, and zombies with her friends, and of course trying to wear pajamas as much as humanly possible. She lives happily in Seattle with her family, two cats, and one very put-upon Chihuahua. Her debut novel, Hold Me Closer, Necromancer was named an American Library Association Best Book for Young Adults and was a finalist for the YALSA William C. Morris Award.

Lish McBride recommends

Books & Bewitchment (2026)
(Arcadia Fall, book 1)
Isla Jewell
"Books & Bewitchment is an utterly charming story for booklovers and anyone who has ever dreamed of a fresh start. It's a cozy love letter to small towns, found family, and the power of a good book. Sharply funny and wonderfully kind, my only hope is that it's the first in a series."

The Farmhouse (2025)
Chelsea Conradt
"The Farmhouse twists together the threads of rustic dreams and pastoral nightmares, creating an atmospheric read that will haunt you long after the story is done. Conradt's thrilling debut is not to be missed."

Find Him Where You Left Him Dead (2023)
(Death Games, book 1)
Kristen Simmons
"Crafted from pure nightmares--so twisted, so turny, that the second you hit The End, you'll feel compelled to start the whole book over again."
