Ransom Riggs recommends

Shatter Me (2011)
(Shatter Me, book 1)
Tahereh Mafi
"Tahereh Mafi’s bold, inventive prose crackles with raw emotion. A thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love, the Shatter Me series is a must-read for fans of dystopian young adult literature-or any literature!"

Unbreakable (2013)
(Legion, book 1)
Kami Garcia
"Tense and deliciously twisty, Unbreakable is a breath-stealing midnight run through some of the creepiest locales I've seen rendered in fiction. . . . It's about forgiveness and redemption, love and loss, and it's anything but predictable. I loved it."

I'll Give You the Sun (2014)
Jandy Nelson
"A wild, beautiful, and profoundly moving novel. Jandy Nelson’s writing is so electric, so alive, her pages practically glow in the dark."

Nemesis (2017)
(Project Nemesis, book 1)
Brendan Reichs
"Reichs builds plots like the Swiss build watches. Nemesis is a fascinating, twisty page-turner that will keep surprising you until its final page. I loved it."

Arlo Finch in the Lake of the Moon (2019)
(Arlo Finch, book 2)
John August
"A thrilling adventure full of magic and wonder. John August is a master storyteller."
