Walter Winward was born in Yorkshire, but spent his formative years in Liverpool. He lived in the United States, North Africa, France, Malta, Mexico, Turkey,and Sweden. He worked in a variety of occupations from Royal Marine Commando to professional gambler. In addition to novels he also wrote plays and screenplays.
