Heidi Julavits recommends

The Responsible Party (2026)
Claire Carusillo
"Brilliant, saucy, and addictive, Carusillo's debut has smarts and wildness to spare, heart and speed, too. To read this book is to have your ears blown back, the sheer, powerful wind of it woke me up, and had me thinking for the first time in a long while, wow, this is what fiction can do."

Nymph (2026)
Sofia Montrone
"Montrone's prose is polished, economic, swift, smart, spiritual. Nymph shows that a book is not defined by its subject matter. It's a transcendent work of intelligence that is also a transcendent work of the senses."

Liquid (2025)
Mariam Rahmani
"Brainy, swift, naughty, constantly surprising, and slyly political-a transgressive tour de force of cultural criticism hidden inside a careening, and deftly comic, logic proof of love."
