Catriona Silvey was born in Glasgow and grew up in Perthshire and Derbyshire, which left her with a strange accent and a distrust of flat places. She overcame the latter to do a BA in English at Cambridge, and spent the next few years there working in scientific publishing.

The Deep and the Drowned (2026)
(Cutlass and Crow, book 1)
Ian Green
"Atmospheric, vivid, and told like an epic song. Fantasy as it should be - human, bloody, big-hearted, and full of wonder."

Not With a Bang (2026)
Temi Oh
"A cinematic, thrilling take on the apocalypse and a deeply moving portrait of a family losing and finding each other. Temi Oh writes my favourite kind of science fiction: grounded in the human, reaching for the stars."

A Quantum Love Story (2024)
Mike Chen
"I'm a sucker for a time loop, so my expectations were high and A Quantum Love Story did not disappoint. A delightful twist on the time loop story--warm, fun, pacy, unexpected, and satisfying."
