A J Elwood

A. J. Elwood studied literature and history, which everyone assured her would never have any direct relevance to what she ended up doing with her life. She remains fascinated by those times when people could believe in things we think of as madness and have perfectly good reasons for doing so. An early obsession with fairy tales has stayed with her and she loves to pen stories that hopefully contain a little bit of magic and often more than a little of the strange.

Genres: Fantasy, Horror
A J Elwood recommends
The Book of the Baku (2021)
R L Boyle
"An engrossing read about a mythical creature that devours nightmares... but they sometimes come back to haunt you. An inventive use of Japanese lore with a few surprises in store for the reader."
Never the Wind (2022)
Francesco Dimitri
"Francesco Dimitri has set himself what would be a daunting challenge for any writer, and he has risen to that challenge with aplomb. The result is beautiful and life-affirming and profound, and I am more than a little in awe. Dimitri is a phenomenon. Read this book. Read it now!"
The Hollows (2022)
Daniel Church
"Daniel Church's tale of a small community ravaged by unnatural forces - and the way its inhabitants fight back - is beautifully told, right from the first finely honed paragraph. It has a wonderfully atmospheric setting, fizzing dialogue and sharply drawn characters you won't forget in a hurry."
