Emma Healey grew up in London where she completed her first degree in bookbinding (learning how to put books together but not how to write them). She graduated from the MA in Creative Writing: Prose at UEA in 2011. Elizabeth is Missing is her first novel.
Emma Healey recommends
Medea's Curse (2015)
(Natalie King, Forensic Psychiatrist, book 1)
"A plot-twisting page-turner... I was completely gripped."
The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock (2018)
Imogen Hermes Gowar
"The richness and rhythm of the writing is irresistible."
Bitter Orange (2018)
"Incredibly atmospheric, vivid and intriguing. I had to keep reminding myself that I wasn't reading a forgotten classic."
The Last House on Needless Street (2021)
"This book is tender rather than terrifying. Playful and sweet as well as sinister and thrilling, the creeping dread is tempered beautifully with humour and it ends being extremely emotionally impactful."
