Sam Hawke recommends
The Beast's Heart (2018)
"I might have a new favourite Beauty and the Beast! 5 out of 5 stars to Leife Shallcross's utterly beautiful retelling The Beast's Heart. Gorgeous writing, magical romance at its best. Absolutely loved it."
We Ride the Storm (2020)
(Reborn Empire, book 1)
"An utterly arresting debut, Storm's heart is in its complex, fascinating characters, each trapped in ever tightening snarls of war, politics and magic. Madson's sharp, engaging prose hauls you through an engrossing story that will leave you wishing you'd set aside enough time to read this all in one sitting. One of the best new voices in fantasy."
The Stone Knife (2020)
(Songs of the Drowned, book 1)
"THE STONE KNIFE has everything you’d hope for in a Stephens novel: sharp action, cracking pace, and a brutal disregard for our poor feelings. A compelling story of clashing cultures, of duty and ambition and change, that will leave you desperate for the next instalment."
