The Second Woman (2021)
Louise Mey
"Louise Mey's The Second Woman smashes the Gothic trope of the first wife who haunts the second, literally returning her from the dead-along with memories of all that she has endured. An in-depth examination of women and their bodies, of violence and manipulation, Mey's work transcends an ordinary psychological thriller, ultimately providing a portrayal of domestic violence that is at once both difficult to look at and away from."

In the Country of Others (2021)
The Country of Others

(In the Country of Others, book 1)
Leïla Slimani
"A powerful and compelling family saga—about women and subjugation, otherness and belonging, and the often conflicting loyalty to both family and country—written with a deftness that has come to define Leila Slimani’s writing. It will no doubt resonate in the reader’s mind long after the final sentence is read."
