M.A. Purcell lives in rural County Clare, well known for its traditional music heritage and the storytelling that continues to be nurtured in the hills and valleys of the Slieve Aughty Mountains.
On retiring from her job as a Respiratory Scientist, she took the plunge and fulfilled a long-held dream of writing a novel, which was published in 2023.
She lives on the family farm and when not reading or writing, enjoys a bit of easy walking, concocting aromatherapy blends, a sing-song with the East Clare Singing Club and sharing a glass of wine with friends.

A Lie Of Omission was the first of a three book contract from Poolbeg Press and was well received. The second, Finding Hannah came out in 2024 and is enjoying a bit of attention. It was entered for the An Post Book Award and while it didn’t make the short list it generated a buzz that delighted the author.
Book three is with the publishers.
