The Shortest Years
Kelly Simmons recommends
The Objects of Her Affection (2014)
Sonya Cobb
"A tautly plotted and elegantly written debut... about the shame of I held my breath with every twist and turn."
Hanna Who Fell from the Sky (2017)
Christopher Meades
"With original characters and graceful prose, Christopher Meades has created an indelible novel about faith, family and love. Your heart will soar and ache for Hanna on her thoroughly original coming-of-age journey."
Jane's Baby (2018)
Chris Bauer
"Colorful characters, a high-octane plot and relentless suspense. JANE'S BABY is a smart, inventive thriller from start to finish."
Her Perfect Life (2020)
Rebecca Taylor
"Compulsively readable from the first page. Rebecca Taylor weaves an expertly layered story of family secrets and builds the suspense to an almost unbearable pace in this modern story of two sisters."
No Woods So Dark as These (2020)
(Ryan DeMarco Mystery, book 4)
Randall Silvis
"The rare crime novel infused with both darkness and light. The characters are so real I expected to meet them for a drink at the end of the day."
Everything We Didn't Say (2021)
Nicole Baart
"Dark family secrets, the spark of never-forgotten romance and an unsolved double murder from the past, pitting landowners against landowners. The elements in Nicole Baart’s latest novel combine seamlessly to provide the atmospheric tension of a crime story and the emotional depth of a family drama. Meticulously plotted and beautifully written."
The Good Women of Safe Harbour (2022)
Bobbi French
"So vividly imagined, it was as if I carried the characters' worries and hopes in my own heart. Set in an unforgettable landscape, brimming with insights, Bobbi French's warm, honest prose makes even the most tragic secrets and events shimmer and lift."
