Susan Vreeland recommends
The Painted Kiss (2005)
Elizabeth Hickey
"In Elizabeth Hickey's compelling novel of tempestuous lives amid the tawdry bohemia of artists' studios and the glittering innuendo of Viennese café society, longing pulses from the page. The Painted Kiss is vivid, atmospheric, engaging, and very, very real."
The Sidewalk Artist (2006)
Gina Buonaguro and Janice Kirk
"A fantasia of a double tale skimming through the art capitals of Europe with double muses, double love pursuits, double Raphaels, even double authors, a tale dripping with idealized romantic settings, mystery, art, and a touch of magic, The Sidewalk Artist will keep readers wondering what is real and what is artifice--as fine paintings always do."
The Glassblower of Murano (2008)
Marina Fiorato
"A double tale of artistry, love, and intrigue, plotted as cunningly as her characters commit treachery... it took my breath away."
Sunflowers (2009)
Sheramy Bundrick
"Lays bare in rich, compelling scenes the mystery of the turbulent and misunderstood final two years in Van Gogh's life."
Claude & Camille (2010)
Stephanie Cowell
"Lovely, touching, delicately written, extraordinarily compelling."
