Sarah Maine

Sarah Maine was born in England but grew up partly in Canada, returning to the UK for university where she studied archaeology. This subject choice gave many opportunities for travel while working on excavations or carrying out research for her PhD. Vacations were spent lecturing for adventure travel companies in Europe and Canada, but her working life has been spent in York where she now lives with her family. Non-fiction writing has been central to her work, but fiction writing is a new departure with Bhalla Strand being her debut novel.

The Lost Lights of St Kilda (2020)
Elisabeth Gifford
"I loved this book. Beautifully written and descriptive... The twisted threads weave an engaging plot which takes us on a trail of human courage and measures the cost of betrayal. Set in the last poignant years of life on remote St Kilda and in war-torn Europe, it paints both worlds with a vividness that is wholly convincing."
She Came to Stay (2020)
Eleni Kyriacou
"An absorbing story of friendship, betrayal and resilience amongst the immigrant community where the struggle for survival brings out the best - and the worst - in characters who choose conflicting, often dangerous, ways to get ahead in a post war London."
City of Vengeance (2021)
(Cesare Aldo, book 1)
D V Bishop
"A complex, intriguing plot which weaves its way through the treacherous streets of sixteenth century Florence, encountering danger at every dark corner."
