T Kingfisher

A pseudonym used by Ursula Vernon

T. Kingfisher is the vaguely absurd pen-name of Ursula Vernon. In another life, she writes children's books and weird comics, and has won the Hugo, Sequoyah, and Ursa Major awards, as well as a half-dozen Junior Library Guild selections.

This is the name she uses when writing things for grown-ups.

When she is not writing, she is probably out in the garden, trying to make eye contact with butterflies.

Bookshops & Bonedust (2023)
(Legends & Lattes, book 2)
Travis Baldree
"A warm hug of a book."
thumb
Black River Orchard (2023)
Chuck Wendig
"A gripping story of love and legacies gone rotten, deeply rooted in the landscape and as twisty and gnarled as an ancient apple tree."
thumb
Camp Damascus (2023)
Chuck Tingle
"A joyful, furious romp through dark places, Tingle proves he's as good at fear as he is at love."
thumb
The Salt Grows Heavy (2023)
Cassandra Khaw
"Cassandra Khaw's writing is never more lyrical than when they're describing the knife in your heart. The bones of a fairy tale sunk deep in a charnel house of descriptive prose, an elegant confection with a blood-soaked core. I devoured it in one sitting."

Station Eternity (2022)
(Midsolar Murders, book 1)
Mur Lafferty
"Lafferty's characters stomp off the page, kicking ass and taking names as they do. If Jessica Fletcher ended up on Babylon Five, you still wouldn't get anywhere close to this deft, complicated, fast-moving book. Station Eternity kept me up way too late turning pages."

It Rides a Pale Horse (2022)
Andy Marino
"Dark and fascinating . . . Not quite like anything I've ever read before. A strange, compelling, late-night page-turner. It kept me reading way past my bedtime."
