Michael Marshall Smith

UK flag (b.1965)

aka Michael Marshall

Michael Marshall Smith was born and raised -- itinerantly -- in the USA and the UK: his parents are academics. He has had two radio comedy series and a pilot TV series, and is currently working on screenplays for two feature films and the BBC adaptation of Clive Barker's Weaveworld. Only Forward was his first novel, Spares his second. He is distressingly young.

Criterium (2020)
Tyler Jones
"A truly excellent novella. The prose is perfect, the story beautifully balanced, and the atmosphere is so strong it feels like you could cut it with a knife. Haunting, uncanny and profound: the strongest and most compelling new voice that I've read in a very long time."

Hydra (2017)
(Six Stories, book 2)
Matt Wesolowski
"A complex and subtle mystery, unfolding like dark origami to reveal the black heart inside."
thumb
The Many (2016)
Wyl Menmuir
"Ominous, subtle and beautiful – an intensely resonant trawling of suffering’s deep currents."
